Isn't this little guy just the cutest? I hope you will join me with your creative talents at Hand Stamped Sentiments this week for the Back to School Challenge. Other than the card base (Blushing Bride) and the first layer (Basic Gray), I used scraps to create with (Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Bashful Blue, Marina Mist, Very Vanilla). I used a the Tasteful Trim Die and a few punches, but mostly cut the shapes free hand. I saw a similar card to this somewhere on the Internet a few months ago. I hope I did it justice. This would make a really cute scrapbook page also. Hmmmm an idea blossoms! If you have questions, please email me at sherrysinknstamps@yahoo.com.

Hand Stamped Sentiments - To "Die" for Challenge #56
I designed this card for this week's Hand Stamped Sentiments. I hope that each of my followers and subscribers will join me this week in the challenge to create something using die cutouts. I decided to use the Beautiful Butterflies Sizzix Die by Stampin' Up!. I cut the butterfly out of whisper White CS and stamped images from the Clearly for You (Occasions Mini) and Bliss (Sale-a-Bration) Stamp Sets. The sentiment is from Word Play. I tried a new combination of colors, Concord Crush and Marina Mist. The top embossed piece was kinda a science experiment. I embossed it with the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder, then sponged Concord Crush ink all over it. Then I took shimmer mist and sprayed they piece I had sponged and using the sponge smoothed out the shimmer mist and ink so that it didn't look blotchy. It really is a pretty look in real life. I hope you'll leave your thoughts in the comment area. If you'd like to get any of the supplies for this card, please email me at sherrysinknstamps@yahoo.com. I'd love to help you out. Also if you are interested in becoming a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, there is a great opportunity during Sal;e-A-Bration thru March 31st. Not only can you customize your starter kit, but you get a 15% discount and an additional $50 Bonus Bundle. That's $360.00 of product for only $148.75. I would really love for you to join my team. If you like my work, want to get a great discount on every order you place, make new friends and have an income to help you pay bills or support your stamping, then please let me email me.

Markers on the Edge Technique Video
I posted a card similar to this before, but today I'm posting a video on how to create the two-tone look with the inking. I've seen the 'thumping' and 'dauber ti stamp technique', but this technique allows you to get more detail. Take a look at this video and let me know what you think. Did you notice that in the card I matched the embossing and also embossed the strip of ribbon Want to know how I got such detail in the embossed ribbon? Let me know!

Owl Nurse
I knew instantly when I saw Jennifer Eby's recent card that I had to make this card. My daughter, who is an RN and Director of Nursing at a Nursing and Rehabilitation facility, just had major surgery on her neck last week. So this was the perfect card for her. Of course I used the Owl punch #118074 $16.95 to make the nurse. She is made with Crumb Cake #120953 $6.95 and Whisper White #10030 $8.50. Don't you just love her blue (Pacific Point #111350 $6.95) eye shadow and nurse's cap (the owl's vest) I giggled the whole time I was making this card. I had so much fun! The tree was cut freehand from Crumb Cake and sponged heavily with Early Espresso Ink #119670 $5.95. I took a pen on the backside of the limb and made the texture on it. The tree branches and leaves are from the 2-step bird punch #117191 $16.95. I used Glossy # 102599 $5.95 CS, Marina Mist Ink #119668 $5.95, a sponge #101610 $3.50 and a scalloped circle to create the sky background. I love making a sky like this. It is so much fun and always looks spectacular. Thanks for the inspiration Jennifer!

Artistic Etchings
The gorgeous cards were inspired by the awesome Diana Gibbs. You can click on her name to go see her beautiful cards. I did these for a technique class and everyone had a wonderful time. Except for the different accent colors, the cards are the same. On the top 2/3's of a piece of Whisper White cut at 4 x 5/14 I placed it in the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, that had been brayered with Crumb Cake, and ran it through the Big Shot. On the bottom 1/3 I used the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder and ran it through the Big Shot with just that area inside the embossing folder. I used Artistic Etchings and Elizabeth stamp sets for both of these cards. I hope you'll try this technique. It was so much fun to do. Thanks Diana!

Thanksgiving Pumpkin-Can you Guess? Contest
Oh boy, was this fun to make. You'll never guess what I made the pumpkin from. So the first person to guess correctly will win this gorgeous card and free instructions. Papers used were Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait, Whisper White and Glossy CS. The leaves were embossed with gold embossing powder on whisper white and then painted with re-inkers (Old Olive, Cajun Craze, More Mustard). The sky was made using glossy card stock and a sponge with Marina Mist with a scallop circle punched out of a scrap of CS and sponged on the glossy CS to make clouds in the beautiful blue Autumn sky. The pumpkin was embossed with the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder in the Big Shot.

Greenhouse Gala Series
This series of cards was inspired by one of my idols, Patty Bennett. I visit her blog every day and got a chance to meet her at the recent Stampin Up Convention. I used all the new Stampin Up Colors and new In Colors (see the tags below).
